'Race-cation' as I called it consisted of a 3/4 Ironman triathlon race in the first week and then a two vacation traveling around Thailand and Cambodia. The race didn't go quite as I planned and imagined, but overall still a good experience.
I made it to Koh Samui and am now just a few days until race day!! Time sure flies, I remember making this goal to race this event and travel to Thailand a few months ago and thinking I'd have plenty of time to prepare and now all of a suddent I am here ... :)

Never take for granted being an athlete! cause I think the toughest times aren't the ones where you struggle in training or have a rough race cause if you put everything out there you can't really ask for more. I think the toughest times are the ones where you have to sit back unable to do anything and just watch from the sidelines and not be an athlete ... usually due to sickness and/or injury or even life stress in general.
I came across this entry and it came at very good timing. This weekend I ran my longest run in a really, really long time (almost 19km :)).
1 month and 1 day away from when I leave for Thailand and 1 month 8 days to race time! Geez, time sure flies :) So, the last few weeks have been good. Just been balancing work and life with some consistent training and I'm just enjoying the lifestyle again. I'm still not a big fan of early morning swims and get kinda grumpy (sorry guys!), but I don't think anyone gets used to that, hehe. Anyways, so trainings been going well ...
Well, 3 months has quickly turned to less than 2 months away from my longest tri race (4km swim/120km bike/30km run) ... the last few weeks I have been getting my butt back into shape (eating healthy) and building my training back up. I feel at times that I am not doing enough (as usual), but I know I just need to be patient, stay injury free and continue to put in some consistent training and I'll be good to go ...
Well, its been a couple of weeks and things are starting to come together :) I will get into more details once they become more concrete ... I have realized some or I guess many things and this year I am very excited for a little change, some new opportunities and experiences and most importantly finding some balance! A sneak peek ...
It will be alot of this ....

with some of this ....

As the last few hours of 2011 wind down I sit here thinking of what 2012 and beyond holds for me. With big aspirations a few years ago to make a long shot run for the 2012 Olympics and just seeing how fast I can get myself to be I now find myself in an unforseen place; sitting at a fork in the road...
6 weeks seems like forever, but really I guess it's only 6 weeks. It wasn't quite the goal I was looking for, but sometimes that's just the way it goes... since I tripped in September I was first dealing with landing on my knee and the bruising/sore/pain afterwards, but I don't think I realized that I might have done something worse on my toe/foot that tripped me up. It was kind of sore when I started running about a month after I tripped, but I thought it would be ok.
